All guitarists love the challenge of a metal guitar lesson. To learn guitar without even attempting heavy metal techniques and wangy bar tricks means you are out of date, as far as modern axe sounds go.

In my travels I met Ian Gillan, Deep Purple's phenomenal singer on 2 occasions. When I first gigged Ginger Baker we recorded at Ian Gillan's studio and I remember having a deep and extensive conversation with Ian about the new scientific discovery about what happens to sound past a certain volume.

Apparently sound doesn't just get louder, there are many phenomena occuring once you reach a certain critical volume. He confirmed with me that my passion for blasting was relevant to getting a particular rock sound.

The 2nd time I met him was when I was gigging with Atomic Rooster in Yugoslavia. We were on a private plane with Motorhead and the Ian Gillan Band on the way to a 7000 seater rock gig - I don't remember much because I was blind drunk on the flight. I do remember Brian Robertson, Motorheads Guitarist... I also remember Lemmy in London Airport sharing some vodka together, cool guy and down to earth.

Richard Hugh "Ritchie" Blackmore

For fans of Deep Purple, Ritchie Blackmore is a historic guitar hero. Guitar tuition with Mizarolli gives you the ability to learn how to play the guitar with a heavier rock touch than usual.

The best guitar teacher in London can explain how to play the guitar in various idioms and Ritchie Blackmore style guitar analysis is included in his tuition courses.

Teaching you the mechanics of how to play like your favorite artist is the name of the game when climbing the learning curve. It keeps the incentive high and makes playing enjoyable and inspiring and who wouldn’t like to play the Smoke on the Water solo like him?

Learning processes for life are like shoes for guitarists, whether you give or take tuition.

Not everyone can just pick up their instrument and easily work out all the techniques their favorite artist use to achieve that striking effect in music that gives them their unique identity.

This is an absolutely unique ability of Johns, to pass on the faculty of paralleling a music idiom without cloning it, using the new music science of photosonics. He is willing to share his knowledge (which includes Richie Blackmore style guitar lessons) with all who are dedicated to improving their art of playing, whether hobbyist or pro.

An interesting story about Ritchie is that Mizarolli has done a lot of playing with Clive Chaman. Clive was the bassist on the Jeff Beck album Rough and Ready. Clive told John that he once was asked to audition for Deep Purple. Clive flew back from America to meet Ritchie. On his first meeting Ritchie wanted to test Clive to see how telepathic he was! ..... and why not?

Deep Purple

Richie Blackmore guitar courses are a good introduction to rock guitar playing for beginners. Blackmore’s neo-classical style was on the forefront of the movement.

If you are an advanced player Ritchie Blackmore techniques give you the extensive knowledge of early classical rock playing that led into Randy Rhoads, Greg Howe and Yngwe Malmsteen.

Imitating the characteristic style of Deep Purple includes studying the equipment used by Ritchie. John is an expert on which equipment creates the sound and what gadgets and pedals to use.

Ian Gillan

At the Blackmore guitar sessions for advanced players John discusses equipment which builds up the characteristic rock guitar sound. Performance and heavy delivery is mastered with good gear knowledge by anyone who is serious about Blackmore.

One interesting technical point which John emphasizes in his sessions is the method of increasing control of vibrato using a scalloped fretboard. An innovation pioneered by Yngwe Malmsteen.

Deep Purple In Rock

A scalloped type of fretboard is shaved lower down between the frets which allows the player to achieve a wider vibrato on a note that is not bent! The bad side of using this adopted guitar technique is that it makes chordal playing more difficult, but a lighter and more delicate approach solves the problem.

John demonstrates the ways to overcome all sound inconveniences by turning the negatives into positive effects. Blackmore’s equipment, style theory etc.. can be easily analysed, but not easily cloned as we know only too well that the rock guitar revolution was mainly formularized in the 60's by guitar legends that one day will be appreciated as much as Bach, Beethoven and Mozart, but that's another story.........!
