John has years of experience in an amazing spectrum of bands. At 17 John was doing recording sessions in London with Dave O'List who was the guitarist for The Nice, who eventually became the historic Emerson, Lake & Palmer Trio, ironically with no guitarist. Ian Ayre was the bands Bassist, famous for his bass in Curved Air. He spent 2 years living in, and gigging around Venice Beach with his band Monolith, another monster 3-piece rock-blues trio. Strangely, John discovered that Jim Morrison and The Doors were rooted in Venice Beach.
John worked with musicians in the 60's who had worked with Hendrix. One of these was a Conga Player, Papa De Qwango Montez who also served with the Edmondo Ross Orchestra. Papa and John became friends afyer many jams.
At 15 years old, John supported Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green and Heads, Hands and Feet. He
had a 4 year experience playing in the USA in California and lived and gigged all over Hollywood during
the birth of jazz-rock and jazz-funk era of the '70s. He found the USA an amazingly creative force.
He studied there
with the brilliant brazilian guitarist Jorge Strunz, whose band
Caldera enjoyed success at that time. John has gigged, toured and
recorded with such names as The Platters, Ginger Baker, The Four
Tops, Atomic Rooster, Don Airey, Big Joe Turner, Alfonso Johnson,
Stevie Winwood, Dave Gilmour, London Symphony Orchestra, Canned
Heat, both Big Joe Turners - the list is endless!
