Thats why so many young guitar players try to invent
their own techniques and work on their own style without guitar
tuition before they learn how to play the instrument well.
Its sort of like the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak syndrome. Its a brave gesture and should not be viewed with a patronising eye. They struggle
to play the simplest passage yet still strive to be
ingenious pioneers of a new music.
If you communicate to the young, fresh and idealistic nature of visionaries, they dont take offence, but in fact appreciate the new window you have shown them.
If you told them what you really think, namely,
that they should polish that entire innovative noise at a
guitar lesson with a superior air of snobery, then you close the channel from the river to the ocean, so to speak.
